EARLY EVENING END
Evening sunshine swung down and is shining low through our windows. Everything is lit and glowing. The horse out back is outlined in fire, limned in a rosy halo. I snuck out the back onto the porch, camera in hand, and he tossed his head and took off to the other end of the field. Camera-shy, I suppose.

Anders and the kids went to Maria's for dinner, mostly because her husband owns a welding torch and Anders has plans for several motorcycle pieces. I opted to stay home and continue my downtime day. :) That's a good thing, not a bad one. I've been pretty accomplished, knocking off laundry, dishes, the bathtub, the entire refrigerator* (how the HELL does it get that dirty!?) and cleaning up the entire kid's department. Now I need to get some work done on the AWC site, but otherwise, the evening is mine, mine, all mine!

Yummy Recent Things With Eggs: Deviled eggs (today), toads-in-the-hole (last week), and that omelette that I think needs a repeat.

I have a meeting with my boss tomorrow to talk about work. My list so far: No, I don't like the open landscaping. No, I don't think I'm getting used to it. No, I don't think I'll ever get used to it. No, I'm not sure what to do about it. No, I don't think working from home is the answer, quite honestly, even 1 day a week. sigh

which we used to call the icebox. I wonder why we don't do that anymore?

Cuz we don't buy big blocks of ice to put in it anymore, silly!

yeah, but we never did, and we called it the icebox all through my childhood anyway!

Oh. Well. You're just a freak maybe. :)

We (my grandparents (my Mom and I lived with them after she got sick)) actually had an icebox in our camper. It was cool (HA!) at first. But as the block of ice melted, things started getting soggy. And the milk just never got cold enough.

I prefer the new-fangled way, thanks. But I still miss the fact that you can't stop in to the local gas station and pick up a back of ice for the cooler. Darn Swedes! Why do they begrudge me the ice?

I prefer the newfangled way, too!! It's just that I LIKE the name icebox. It's so much more fun and descriptive than refrigerator. And you can get ice from McDonald's for parties and coolers, did you know that? Some of them will charge you 10 kronor, but most will give it to you for free. :)

Now if one could just get a freezer large enough to hold a bag of ice. I like zero, zip, zilch myself, although I usually finish off that with nada! Too many years of living in New Mexico.

Our freezer is as big as our fridge, it could hold 7 bags of ice! :) I LOVES ICE! I refuse to give it up!

Lennart wants one of those freezers with an ice-maker in the door. And he wants a tv in the bedroom. He better get his citizenship tomorrow, he's more American than I am! :)

I didn't know that. What do you do, just go inside and ask for ice? They don't give you the evil eye? :)

Yep, be brave! Play the pathetic American card, it works every time :P

"clock" was hilarious....thanks for the link!
It's always nice to find new blogs to read.

Wow...
you got a lot done. a lot more than zero, zip, zilch.
And I bet you did it with pizzaz, razzamataz, and razzle dazzle.
What a humdinger, zinger, lollapalooza, and a knockout of accomplishment!
Are you sure you didn't use some abracadabra, hocus-pocus, or mumbo-jumbo ?
I'd be feeling helter-skelter, higgledy-piggledy, willy-nilly, and hodge-podge after all that.
I wish you a good natured ballyhoo, brouhaha, hubbub, and hullabaloo.
You deserve it!

:D thank you!! that was fun to read!
