RUN DOWN
All the 42 different shades of green have blended and become one, a great green leafy soup. The lilacs are browning, burned on top from the sun. Trees and bushes with white flowers are blooming: spirea, chestnuts, guelder-rose, and rowan. I love the rowans with their big white flower clumps that become bright red berries in the fall. Their leaves will turn intense shades of orangey-red then as well. Wild carrots* trace a frothy lace of icing along the roadways. Leopard's bane, daisies and meadow buttercups dot yellow in fields of puffball dandelions that tremble and shed with every errant gust of wind. The dog-roses have blossomed too, they'll be fat rosehips for tea come autumn. Rhododendrons are showing off everywhere in their own personal beauty pageants, and the peonies have fat bud balls ready to burst open any minute.

Handy Swedish Phrases I Learned Today:
  • glad gamäng - a happy-go-lucky person, literally "happy gamin"
  • ful fisk - someone fishy, dodgy, deceptive, literally "ugly fish"
  • rent mjöl i påsen - good conscience, literally "clean flour in the bag"

Is rowan the one that smells of bajs? I ask Calle what trees and flowers are called, but he mostly doesn't know.

Not sure...this page doesn't say anything about it: Rönn

If there's one near you, maybe you can point it out to me on Sunday and I can tell you what it is or find out if I don't know.

tung kvalmig doft

Could be it. Of course hundbajs doft might be nearer the truth.

Also, since you disabled comments on your last post, I wanted to tell you...whenever you see that mental image of your mother in your head saying anything, slap her for me.

You're right, that could be it. YOu can still point it out to me. Kvalmig means "stuffy" or "suffocating"

Yup, had to look that up, but it sure does fit.

Rönn is a (according to Lexin) mountain ash. Sorbus aucuparia var aucuparia in Latin, and apparently rowan according to some other page. It does have a bit of... heavy smell.

Whew! indeed lady!!! Can't let my work see this list. They'll wonder why the hell I'm not that insane productive! *heehee*

Go Energizer Lizard, Go! :)

I love it when I'm busy with fun stuff!! It's certainly helped improve my attitude. I told our dept head yesterday that he needed to get it set up so there was a major trade show and product launch every 2-3 months so I'd be busy and happy and not have time to think about the FUCKING open landscaping!! :P

Maybe that is the trick with the open landscaping....make it so miserable that everyone LOVES to be super busy so they do not ahve to think about their surroundings?? :)

Aha! That's the reason then! I knew there was another agenda behind the open-plan thing!

Herman's Hermits!!

Herman's Hermits... you certainly listen to a diverse collection of tunes! I got the Corrs, by the way (your recommend) from the library, and enjoyed them.
Do you actually own Herman's Hermits? I still occasionally sing "There's a Kind of Hush.."( I forget the name of the song)..to myself of course.
Then the other day I saw you were listening to one of my all time favorites by Peter Tosh..

Good to hear you happy at work!
I advertised for a roommate. Wish me luck.

Re: Herman's Hermits!!

I had it on the radio :) I tend to listen to the 60s/70s station because European pop radio is a vast wasteland. I do have a couple of HH MP3's though :) I have extremely eclectic tastes when it comes to music, although I tend to stay away from heavy metal, rap, hip-hop and heavy-duty C&W, even so there's always something in every genre that I enjoy. I have TONS of mixed tapes and CDs as well, but my music collection is growing old...since I'm no longer able to keep up with the new stuff...SO SAD!

Good luck with the roommate! I'm sure you can find someone that will work out for you! :)

Re: Herman's Hermits!!

Did you get any Herman's Hermits from my mp3 collection, or have I got that on some tape somewhere...? Thinking out loud here, kinda.

Re: Herman's Hermits!!

I did (although not Mrs. Brown's Daughter). I got No Milk Today and Kind of Hush from you :) :)

Re: Herman's Hermits!!

"although I tend to stay away from heavy metal, rap, hip-hop and
heavy-duty C&W" ouch, me too.. I do however end up listening to some via my grown children.

It's great that you like a little bit of everything

Two words, Show Off. But brillant of course, typical Lizard. My brain is barely functioning due to the two hours of sleep. Kind of old for that shit.

Pbb!! I wanted a record of it somewhere :)

Careful with that tongue >:)

Pbbbbbbb!!! >:D
