    Loey Nelson—Railroad Track

Once again, my husband left me with an empty gas tank this morning. argh

I almost hit a car this morning on the way to work because the sun was shining from behind me and I didn't see that he had his left-turn blinker on and thought he was going straight through the little traffic circle. :(

Still no reimbursement from work for those damned IKEA frames purchased over a month ago. The bill for over 5000 kronor has been paid by me, so we're out that money completely for the moment until the finance department gets their thumb out of their ass.

Trying to explain that formatting content for the web and for print are two completely different processes and never the twain shall meet makes my head hurt.

Lunch, consisting of nasty fried falukorv slices with nasty pineapple sauce and a nasty side of root-vegetable-and-potato-mash, was just nasty.

My head hurts.

    none. my head hurts.

I have to drag that string of Christmas lights sometime and it would be my own fault if some of the bulbs are cracked or missing or won't light up, meaning that I couldn't leave the day with a sad/bad post.

Martin's parent-teacher conference went well and Martin is apparently aceing everything in sight, prompting me to take the teacher aback by asking her about programs to help exceptional children (!) The only thing we need to be concerned about at this point is his tendency to take things personally. He is a sensitive kid and often gets very upset by imagined insults or accidents. He just needs to learn how to shake things off a little better and "be a duck" as I like to say, but he's got plenty of time to learn how to do that!

The other preschool teacher included a note that mentioned her thought that Martin identifies too strongly with and plays too much with girls and that he should be encouraged to play more with boys. Anders and I both reacted to that one, quite strongly, and made it very clear that we prefer to allow Martin to form his OWN identity and make his OWN friends, thank you very much.

Tack så mycket to spykitten for making my day improve many degrees with the arrival of the candy package from the States! Mmmm M&M's! :D

    Hooters—And We Danced

After having been told to come home at 5:30 for dinner and showing up half an hour late, Karin's response when she came in the door and heard me exclaim "You're half an hour late, young lady!": Det gör ingenting, mamma.*

Upon subsequently being told that yes, it does indeed make a difference, and if she chooses to be late again, that will be an end to playing with friends before dinner, now get over to the table and eat: Ni bara tjata på mig hela tiden!**

And finally, opening the Easter card she received from Grandma Linda, flinging it violently to the table and grumping because there was no toy in it, whereupon Martin informed her that you can't always get what you want, I picked it up, read it to her, and then said, "You know, you don't always get toys from Grandma Linda, sometimes she sends you love instead."

Then, as I'm walking by him, I turn to Anders and under my breath, mutter, "Because we all know love is better than toys." Whereupon we both crack up.

*It makes no difference, mama.
**You guys just nag me all the time!
