The AWC Halloween party was a super success. Smoothly organized and run by the activity coordinating queens, Sharon and Katrina, the kids were kept occupied and entertained, the food was abundant and excellent and the costumes were creative and fun. :) We didn't, as I predicted, win any costume contests this year, but since we put almost zero effort into them, I was neither upset nor disappointed although the gift certificate prize to Gray's American Store certainly would have been welcome. :) There was even dry ice on hand for appropriately spooky special effects :)
The berries and leaves and orange chinese lantern seed pods looked great on the tables last night, and it turns out there was some sort of FRUIT inside those lanterns, and several people ate them. I hope no one died last night. :( I haven't got the faintest idea if they are edible or not, and I can't, for the life of me, understand why people would EAT the table decorations.
I've got the pigsty situation of the century awaiting me, although I did do some picking up before I sat down at the computer. Since I haven't been home one single evening this week, and haven't had the energy to deal with the house, things have gotten completely out of hand. Anders is outside trying to finish the paving stones around the edge of the house. That will be great, as it will mean he can get started on the little bathroom. (evil laugh) His to-do list, which I'm in charge of, never ends. :) Of course, mine doesn't either, so it's only fair.
circebleu posted the perfect poem about Autumn by Rainer Maria Rilke today. I love RMR!
