LIGHTS OUT
I have no coherent thoughts right now. Starting and stopping sentences every few seconds. I've started this over and over in my head, mentally backspacing and deleting and finally gave up and just started typing. Not sure that will get it going, but since my weekend has been all about getting things done, there you have it.

Yesterday, for Earth Hour, which my kids were really excited about participating in (the 2 video game addicts: go figure) even to the extent of pumping arms in the air and yelling WOO HOO! when 8:30 rolled around (Karin), we had preparations well underway in the quarter hour preceding the call for lights out. We popped popcorn in advance and got all the candles out, and ready.

We played Trivial Pursuit Young Players' Edition, in 2 teams (Martin & I against Anders & Karin). At the beginning of the game, Anders high-fived Karin after every right answer and when I asked if he was going to keep doing that, he said, "if it annoys you" at which point I rolled my eyes at him. We played the regular rule of continuing your turn after every correct answer, but after first having the board hogged by the opposing team and then hogging it ourselves for quite an extended period, I noticed Karin was getting antsy and dejected and we finally switched to just taking turns which made the end run into the middle take forever. But it was a lot of fun, sitting there in the dark with the golden glow of candlelight and a giant bowl of popcorn. We catechized the neighbors who all had lights on during the hour, and by 9:30 we were still in the middle of the game, and the kids didn't want to turn the lights back on so we just continued with Earth Evening. The high-fivers won, darn it.

It seems quiet around here lately. It feels like people aren't online, or if they are, they're not commenting. After having BP shut down operations at her blog, I think I'm paranoid that everyone is abandoning me/us, and even though I know that there are always periods of downtime, it makes me nervous. Howling in the wilderness isn't my style, I LIKE my audience. Hopefully it's just spring fever and everyone is out enjoying some sunshine and daffodils and an open-air café lunch with their BFFs.

My sister has been at my mom's all week, helping her paint and renovate 2 (3?) rooms and I called and asked her to please please please help find my old school photos since mom has totally been dragging her feet on that project, and apparently Sarah has been finding them all in photo albums and they're scanning and sending them , so soon you can all enjoy the horror that was my childhood progression in polyester. That ought to bring the comments flooding in. Hee!

Hmmm...nope. I thought there was more, but I was wrong.

Charlie thought the apartment was spooky with candles. He kept telling everyone that we made it like a spökhus. We looked out and there were some people doing it as well, others not (boo-hiss). I liked see people go around with candles.

You're not a candle person, then? Neither are we. We have tons of candleholders, but I NEVER use them except for power outages or something like this, or once in a blue moon when we have friends over.

I'm here, I'm here! Yours is one of my favorite journals to read. I'm sorry about not commenting more frequently; these days I read online to relax rather than to exert a comment or opinion (or write in my own journal), which is just unfair. But know that I always, always enjoy reading what you write, enjoy your perspective, and celebrate the small things with you (like that ever decreasing number of loads of laundry you had to do!)

Don't be sorry, it was more a general statement of feeling that things are quiet right now :)

I have never commented before...but I am a faithful reader. I, too, miss BP a lot and never commented there either until she stopped writing. Didn't want to make that mistake again. Glad you got so much crossed off your to-do "lizt" I have been busy too AVOIDING all of my responsibilities. Thanks for sharing your life with all of us :)

I'm here too. Always. Just not a very good commenter, as you well know. Such a bummer about BP

I know. BOO HOO!! It makes me sad whenever I think about. I keep thinking: maybe she'll change her mind. Maybe? It's allowed!

Re: Hello

My goodness, Neil, I didn't think you were reading me! :)

I'll howl with you Liz. Just returned and will get right back into the commenting business as much as I can.
How was your week? I'll try to catch up on you in the next couple of dayz.

Crazy week, bad end, good weekend. :)

I'm here! And I give my neighbours "underkänt" on the earth hour too! I switched off everything except the computer. It was kind of nice. :) And wonderfully quiet...

We actually had the dishwasher and the laundry running, but they were in the middle of their cycles and I couldn't switch them off. I should have thought to hand wash the dishes, but by the time I did, it was too late!

Haven't had a chance to write this week but I'm still reading.

YOu're excused! You have a new baby! :D

Here! We were gone this weekend enjoying the sunshine and daffodils (and the coold cold wind). Despite the wind, it is officially traveling season again, hurray!!

julia@kolo

The wind has been pretty chilly here, too. Yay for traveling! We're off in a week ourselves! can't wait!

At about 14:45, I decided to take a short nap after lunch. Then I'd take on some redecoration of my living room.

At about 19:45, I woke up after five hours of blissful (?) sleep. Oops.

I figured I had pretty much done my deal of the Earth Hour, so at 20:30 I could sit in front of the computer and for a short while even have my desk lamp on, fitted with an old fashioned, power hungry bulb no less!

The redecoration had to wait until yesterday, Sunday. I'll continue later this week.

I'm totally a bit paranoid that some writers will abandon livejournal for facebook, dreamwidth or something else more trendy. It does feel more quiet, but I suspect parts of my flist is a bit dormant...

I don't know that people would jump ship for Facebook, but I know at least 4 that pretty much only Twitter nowadays, which...I just don't get. But okay, whatever. Never heard of dreamwidth. I'm afraid to check it out.

Ooh, I can't wait to see the polyester!

Personally, I'd love to spend more time around these parts but the darn day job keeps getting in the way.

My sister said she found all but 2, and one of them I have, so now she just needs to get them scanned! haa!

I did it!!! I did it!!!! The pics are going to be on the way as soon as Tom gets a minute to show me how to work our new scanner. We are missing two years but Mom has the senior and she says you have the Alabama one with the globe. So the one we are missing is 1979. Do you have the yearbook for that year? I have the one form Ramstein but you were at K-town that year.

We are now at my house and Tom and I leave on Wednesday morning at the crack of Dawn. UGH!!! for the wonderful Childless vacation in New Orleans!!!:) More when we return!

Seester and Lizardmom

HAAAA! I can't wait to get them!! Have fun on your trip!! woo hoo :)

Earth hour actually sounds fun at your place. Sorry, I was a shit.

And yes, this weekend was a bust. Tumbleweeds across my computer screen and everything. Eerie when that happens. BUT HEY, I'm here!

It goes in waves, I think. And weekends are always quiet, which I find weird, because that's when I have the MOST time to screw around on the computer :)
