We went to see Tangled tonight, partly because I'd been "boring" all day and Karin and Sydney and probably Martin, who didn't actually say so, like his sister, who reiterated it several times, were BORED, MOM, and because I had forgotten all about Melodifestivalen starting this evening, but I think we got the better end of the deal because the movie was AWESOME. I admit to having a really soft spot for Disney when they get it right, and with John Lasseter, they REALLY get it right.

At the end of the movie, we stayed to watch the end of the credits, standing at the end of the row of seats and at one point I looked at Martin, who was standing next to me, and he looked so very much like Joe Cool that I was completely taken aback. His hair was all spiked up, and he was still wearing the black Ray-Ban-ish 3D glasses and he had a lollipop stick jutting from the corner of his mouth. Hee! Wish I could have snapped a picture.

Sydney & London the dog are staying with me this weekend because Sydney's parents (my cousin Cate and her husband Magnus) are in London the city for their anniversary. Yesterday my good friend Camilla was here was us, too and though we didn't do anything special, I made a great dinner (chicken with corn, asparagus, kohlrabi and Come & Get it Sauce over rice) and we watched Tarzan in the new entertainment center that used to be our playroom. Then Camilla and I stayed up late talking, and I REALLY wish she would move back to Sweden for awhile. She's not the only friend I wish would move back to Sweden. Or the only friend I wish would just move TO Sweden, but her whirlwind once or twice a year visits will just have to do me, I guess.

Anders is up north skiing for the weekend with work colleagues, but he's called every day. Today Karin and I went to visit her first choice for schools for next year and she seems pretty set on this one. It seemed fine to me, too, but I'm insisting she visit at least one other one to make sure she has a choice. There were 4 other kids (all boys) from her current class that were also there for the open house, so I'm optimistic about carpooling possibilities.

The only bummer about missing Melodifestivalen is that there's no re-run on Swedish TV until 11:30 at night tomorrow (which, DUH, TV1, what's up with that?) so we'll have to watch it online, if it's available.

The last couple of weeks have been just crazy busy, especially at work and I see no end in sight. Each weekend, all I want to do is collapse and sleep and sleep and sleep. After we got home from the school open house and I fixed the kids lunch and we went for a walk with the dog, I laid down "to read" and woke up 2 hours later and had to force myself to get up instead of rolling over and continuing my nap right through into bedtime. So, now I'm off to bed in the hopes that I'll get to sleep in some tomorrow and then be able to face next week with a relatively clear mind and more energy. Wish me luck!

Isn't it available on We don't watch it anymore. I get the creepy crawlies from Melodifestivalen.

Oh, and we watched Tangled today with my parents (sans Rickard). it was awesome, right? I teared up when they released the lanterns. So beautiful.

I hope it is, I'm checking now :) And I agree: I teared up at the lantern scene, too. :)

I LOVE Tangled! It was the first movie we took E to the theater to see and she also was a big fan. (She thought it was a little too scary though. She's such a wuss.) I thought it'd be cute and all but we were happily surprised at how MUCH we liked it.

It was really excellent. :)

This is completely unrelated to your post, but something made me think of you... My new preceptor was speaking on the phone to his wife in a language that didn't sound like anything I could recognize. When he got off, I said, "Is that SWEDISH?" and he said yes! Now I can sort of imagine what you hear, really doesn't sound recognizable (like French and Spanish have some words and sounds that a non-speaker can still recognize). Also, his son's name is Fioren, or Fjoren or something like that. Is that a common name there?

It's much easier to read when you don't know it than to understand when spoken. The name isn't ringing any bell at all, the way you've spelled it and I can't think of anything familiar that would sound like that.

What is "come and get it" sauce? Tried to search for it to no avail. Sounds yummy though.

Come & Get it Sauce is this amazing recipe I found a long time ago whose purpose is to help get kids to eat veggies. Mine LOVE it. :)

Come & Get It Sauce
(for vegetables)

1 cup sour cream (or lite crème fraîche)
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 Tbs lemon juice
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp Tabasco

(we added a dash of soy sauce as well, but it's totally optional)

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and heat gently: do not allow to boil.

Serving suggestions: Spoon over vegetable when serving, or place vegetable in a casserole dish, top with sauce, sprinkle with bread crumbs, place under broiler until crumbs are brown (1-2 minutes). Ideal with asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflowers, green beans, etc.

We usually just pour it into to a saucepan after we've sauteed chicken with broccoli, add corn and another veggie and serve when it's warm. YUMMO.

Makes 4-6 servings

Oh, I am so glad you posted that recipe! Yum. I am going to try it in the near future!

I am so tired of my internet being weird. I didn't know you posted until today.

A nap sounds like heaven. I hope you come to the end of the crazy busy and slide into normal busy. I hope the same for myself.

I am happy to hear that there are carpooling opportunities for Karin's school if she chooses to go there. I know you were worried about that.

I think I will go up to bed to "read" right now. xo!

Re: From Megsie

You can always get it from my Facebook notes, too :) Our internet is VERY weird, and also annoying with the constant disconnecting itself. I hope it shapes up soon.
