Blah blah blahbbity blah blah.

That was the weather and my mood this afternoon. I tried to book a table at the yummy tapas place for tomorrow and I waited too long, dammit. They're booked solid from 5 until 9 p.m.. :( Oh well, we have tickets to Lost in Translation since I couldn't afford ozswede's extortion price. Which is good cuz I love Bill Murray when he's not trying to be funny. One of my long-time guilty-pleasure movies is his The Razor's Edge. I need to see that again. Or re-read the book.

More Guilty and Not-so-guilty Pleasure Movies:
  • Casual Sex?
  • Repo Man
  • Nice Girls Don't Explode
  • Freaky Friday (the original with Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris)
  • Ladyhawke
  • Surviving Desire
  • Trust
  • Grease
  • Hair
  • Map of the Human Heart
  • The Journey of Natty Gann
  • Labyrinth
  • Tequila Sunrise
  • Clerks
  • Gas Food Lodging
  • Heathers
  • Anne of Green Gables (oh! you blessed child!)
Now, I'm home with endofweektired kids, and my lovely, lovely husband who is doing sinfully delicious things with chicken and garlic and cheese in the kitchen. Dinner's on!

Edited to add WOO HOO!!! The kids are spending the night at Farmor and Farfar's tomorrow!!
mood: happy
music: Jayhawks—Bad Love

Oh, I so loved John Cusack in Natty Gann. And David Bowie in Labyrinth (which I now have on dvd, thank you!). And the pretty boy who had a crush on Anne...what was his name? Gilbert? Ladyhawke I never managed to see until I was in college, and then it just disturbed me how the music didn't at all seem to match with the film. But oh, Matthew Broderick was cute. How come you like all my 80s drool-crushes? :)

80's drool crushes! Cuz they're the best ones, of COURSE! Gilbert Blythe! Actually, I was madly in love with Rutger Hauer in Ladyhawke, *swoon* :D

Ooooh, double ditto on Rutger Hauer, both in Ladyhawke and Blade Runner. I always thought my Anders looked a little like Rutger Hauer, at least his bone structure.

The more I hear about your Anders, the luckier I think you are! :D (not that I'm not lucky, but my Anders doesn't look the least bit like Rutger Hauer, although that might be too much of a good thing. hee!)

except Robbie Benson...I couldn't stand him for the longest time! LOL

P.S. You MUST tell me the garlic-chicken-cheese-sinfully-delicious recipe! I'm salivating on the keyboard at the idea of such a recipe!

I asked: He made it up on the spot. There is no recipe except for the chefy goodness that is Anders' brain.

You can always make a quickie semi-cordon bleu. Pound out your boned, skinned chicken breasts between two pieces of plastic wrap until thinned out. Cut a piece of sliced smoked ham to fit inside the parameters of the breast and then lay a piece of cheese even smaller on the ham. Roll up the chicken breasts and secure with a toothpick. Melt a couple of tablespoons of butter in a frying pan, saute some onion and crushed garlic in this until browned and then fry your chicken breasts, turning to brown all sides. They shouldn't take longer than 8 minutes. Remove the chicken breasts, add a little salt, pepper and a teaspoon of capers to the pan to warm, and then pour the sauce over the chicken. If you want to get really fancy, you can add a little white wine to deglaze the pan and even a little cream to thicken the sauce.

*drool* thanks for the tip!!!

Boy we have similar taste in movies- Anne of Green Gables (I own it on DVD), Grease (also own DVD) and I love the original Freaky Friday (and most of Jodie's other Disney movies). Hair was a lot fo fun and DH took me to Heathers on our first official date.

I have got to start getting stuff on DVD! We just got a DVD player, finally!! Anders and I saw Neapolitan on our first official date, which I loved and that horrible sub movie with Wesley Snipes. We talked through the whole thing though so that was okay. :)

Now we are trying to decide- do we want DVD's of stuff we have on VHS- or do we just suffer through VHS and buy newer movies in DVD!

lol, I don't consider Ladyhawke, Labyrinth and Anne of GG guilty pleasures - they're movie staples! I mean that chiarascuro lighting in Ladyhawke... can it get more visually artful than that? :D

I have to add I was terribly disappointed with Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story. <:(

Oh! I know exactly what you mean. I saw it in a bargain bin (should have been my first clue) and snatched it up. What a HORRIBLE movie. I couldn't believe it. After they did such a superior job of book-to-film with the first ones, to go and totally screw it up.

I think nannergo is right, those aren't guilty pleasures except, Casual Sex? On my list would also be Grease, Ladyhawke, Labyrinth, The Journey of Natty Gahn, Heathers and Tequila Sunrise. Guilty pleasures for me would be Animal House, Best in Show, Kissing Jessica Stein and Body Heat.

In that case, I don't think Animal House or Body Heat qualify as guilty pleasures either. Do you remember Sue from WRP and her crush on Two Moon Junction? THAT is a guilty pleasure movie, LOL!
